 "Before I had my hearing tested and was fit with hearing aids, I knew I had a hearing problem but felt I could handle it as I had been doing by having my wife repeat herself 2 or 3 times if necessary.  If I was watching TV I would turn the volume way up and if I didn’t hear something I would ask my wife to tell me what they said. 
   Sitting in church it would take total focusing to hearing the sermon and announcements and again, I often had to ask my wife to repeat things which broke her concentration and disturbed those around us. 
   And whenever I tried to have conversations with my grandchildren or my children’s worship group at church, I had difficulty hearing them well enough to understand them.
   Since I’ve received hearing aids I’ve learned that volume doesn’t help you that much.  I also didn’t realize that most of us who have a hearing loss make up for our handicap by learning to hear the sounds and read lips at the same time.
   My daughters had often made the comment in the past about being able to hear the TV way outside.  That doesn’t happen now.  In fact, I even turn the volume down lower than a normal level.
   I have adjusted very well because it has made it less stressful and easier to hear more clearly.
If anyone has the same hearing problems I did, I would highly recommend that they do something that will help them. "

   I just want to share my story with you because I know you truly care about my hearing. I most likely am just like many others where I denied that I had a hearing problem for a long time. My family and individuals at work tried to get me to have my hearing tested but I knew better. One day one of my granddaughters said, "Papa can't you hear me, I've been asking you for help". That really hit home.
   I am the kind of person that shops around before making a purchase. Over the course of around six or seven months  I had my hearing tested at five different offices. All of these offices gave me the same test results even though the tests were administered slightly different. Naturally they all wanted me to buy their brand of aids that is understandable. However these individuals reminded me of used car salesmen. They exerted pressure i.e. Purchase today and receive $500 discount, you won't find a better product or deal. The discussion was all about cost with little discussion of what the product would do for me or what would be the right product for me. They never really seamed to care about trying to resolve my problem.
   I attended one of your luncheon conferences at Meijer Gardens. I was very impressed with the Manufactures representative's presentation but I was much more impressed with you. Statements like,"lf you don't get the right instrument then it will end up as a very expensive item in the dresser draw". You can try the hearing aid for 30 days and if you don't like it you won't have any cost. Hearing aids are a remarkable product, but they are not cheap. My being able to try it out before I purchased was a great relief. I worked for years in a Zinc Die Cast operation where it was very noisy. I didn't wear my ear protection like I should because I could not stand things in my ear. Therefore I was concerned about the little aids in my ear. What if I bought them and then couldn't get use to the feeling in my ears. I didn't like the looks of the large type that filled the ear or was behind the ear. I had a lot of concerns. I wanted to be able to hear my granddaughter, family and co-workers but I didn't want to buy aids that were going to end up in the dresser draw.
   My first visit to your office was extremely enjoyable. The entire staff was very pleasant, personable and professional. The entire first meeting with you in your office was about the instrument how it worked, with all kinds of tips about ear maintenance. If I had any problems come in you would fix them etc. I was most definitely not dealing with a used car salesman but rather a professional who really cared about people and their hearing.
