THINGS TO CONSIDER:
Your hearing care giver will conduct a number of tests and ask you certain questions to help determine which is the best choice of hearing aid for you. The consideration include:
Lifestyle : Your different listening environments will help dictate the best hearing aid and options to meet those needs.
Degree of hearing loss : Not all shell styles and technologies are appropriate for all hearing losses.
Ear anatomy : Some ear canals are very tiny or narrow making a CIC or ITC not appropriate. Some outer ear contours (concha bowl) are not applicable for ITE hearing aid. Some ears are too small or close to the head to allow a BTE fitting. Sometimes chronic infection or epithelial migration have to be taken into consideration.
Manual dexterity : ITC’s and CIC’s are easy to insert but do require steady hands. Arithrius, deformity, injury, or strokes may influence the choice of fitting.
Cosmetic preferences; there is a wide range of styles, colors and sizes to choose from.
Budget : hearing aids are available in a wide range of prices, with a model for every budget.Your Great Lakes Hearing Care Giver will help you choose a hearing product that is best suited for your personal lifestyle. It is not just what is best for you, rather what best fits your lifestyle and your pocket.
